Location: Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX
Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum (Pro‑rota)
Contract: Substantive, Full‑time – 10 Programmed Activities (7.5 Direct Clinical Contact and 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities)
On‑call: 1:50 frequency; Category A – 3% on‑call supplement

Job Summary
We are recruiting for an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist in the West Mental Health & Wellness Team at Barking Community Hospital. The role is a full‑time, substantive post providing senior clinical leadership and direct patient care to residents within the West Barking and Dagenham areas.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of multidisciplinary teams to deliver care to adults with mental health needs.
* Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
* Work directly with adults and their families, liaising with external providers and acute hospitals when appropriate.
* Participate in the on‑call rota (current frequency 1:50) with a 3% basic‑salary supplement.
* Support peers and team leaders, fostering collaborative engagement and encouraging initiative.
* Collaborate with other health and social professionals and agencies.
Qualifications & Person Specification
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* CCT or equivalent.
* Section 12 approval or eligibility for approval.
* Approved Clinician status or eligibility for it.
* Inclusion in or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
* Valid Disclosure and Barring Service check (RA 1975).
