Founded in 2012, Fresh Start Independence Project (FSIP) is dedicated to supporting children and young people facing challenges that prevent them from living at home. We work with young people from a range of backgrounds including care leavers, unaccompanied asylum seekers, youth offenders, and young people new to the care system; Our mission is to empower these individuals through bespoke support services that promote independence, education, and emotional well-being, all grounded in understanding and non-judgement.
Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Workers to be part of a grassroots team as we embark on opening our first Ofsted registered Children's Home. Based in the local area, you will play a vital role in supporting the resident/s in line with their individual care plan, and helping them to make positive life choices and develop essential skills for future independence.
We are currently offering casual positions with a view for successful candidates to progress into permanent part or full-time work as we establish the home and successfully expand our services.
Responsibilities
* Work within the framework of the Children's Homes Regulations (2015), Quality Standards, and all organisational policies.
* Safeguard children and vulnerable adults, following all relevant safeguarding procedures.
* Provide individual and group care, support, and interaction to residents in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
* Support children and young people's education, therapy, and personal development, ensuring activities meet individual needs.
* Act as a corporate parent, delivering high‑quality care while maintaining professional boundaries.
* Attend staff meetings, supervision, and appraisal sessions, contributing openly and professionally.
* Build positive, transparent relationships with parents and carers.
* Respond appropriately to emergencies, ensuring safety, security, and effective communication with managers.
* Act as key worker for allocated residents, including care planning, recording, monitoring, and regularly updating risk assessments.
* Attend and contribute to meetings and case reviews as required.
* Administer medication in line with policy, procedures, and training.
* Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and maintain a positive, supportive attitude.
* Liaise with external agencies as directed.
* Uphold organisational values, integrity, and equality, including adherence to the Equality Act 2010.
* Complete mandatory training, including induction and Level 3 Children and Families Practitioner qualification within two years.
* Drive own or company vehicle to transport residents when required and eligible.
* Follow all health and safety requirements, including the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and related responsibilities.
* Support management with delegated tasks such as checks, monitoring, recruitment, induction, and supervision of junior staff.
* Undertake any reasonable duties assigned by the Manager or Deputy Manager and contribute constructively to team working.
Probation: This position is subject to successful completion of three months probation period. The Registered Manager in consultation with the Responsible Individual may terminate or reverse the appointment as a result of poor performance/incompetence or any such practice not befitting a Senior Support Worker.
Shift Pattern: Shifts will be either 6 or 12 hours - inclusive of daytime, nights, and weekends
Rate: Starting rate will be £14.50 per hour (£16.25 including rolled-up holiday pay)
Holidays: Casual worker will receive holiday compensation through rolled-up holiday pay at a rate of 12.07%. Eventual permanent employees will receive a yearly holiday entitlement of 5.6 weeks.

* Do you hold a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an equivalent childcare qualification? Successful candidates must provide evidence of their qualification, or be willing to undertake the necessary Level 3 course to acquire certification if not.
