Credit Risk Senior Manager - Private Asset National salary: up to £95,000 (DOE) London salary: up to £120,000 (DOE) A great opportunity to join a market leading investment risk oversight team in one of the UK's biggest insurers. We have a senior manager opportunity in the second line oversight of investment risk management of Aviva's c£80bn shareholder credit risk portfolio. A bit about the job: The team manages the credit risk appetite and limit methodology of the IWR Credit Risk Framework Management. This includes helping design the controls around a £80 billion credit risk book of assets, determining concentration limits and credit risk appetite. The team also fulfils the second line oversight of the investment and credit risk management of all of Aviva's Life insurance activity with a particular focus on the growing Annuity market. This includes equity release mortgages and other private asset classes. The role reports to the Head of Complex Credit Risk Oversight and you'll be reviewing and challenging IWR's management of exposure to credit and investment risk, including their approach to risk identification and measuring risk impacts. You'll be helping to ensure that first line is managing these risks in accordance with stated policies and Board approved risk appetite measures. You'll be responsible for researching initiatives and change that help to mitigate financial risks in a number of complex areas, including the rapidly growing Bulk Purchase Annuity business. In so doing, you'll be reviewing the approach to asset management of £billions of investment activity and you'll be involved in oversighting the credit risk management of innovative annuity propositional activity, including Mega BPA deals. Your role is to provide Risk's independent opinion of the risk exposures, investment decisions and strategy, helping to advise the business on how best to manage and mitigate these exposures and ensure that out-sourced fund managers are managing UKL investment risk effectively and with best practice. Skills and experience we're looking for: Private asset credit risk experience is essential from a sourcing or oversight perspective. Familiarity with credit risk appetite and limit setting and methodology is a big advantage. This role may be suited to an individual with a professional qualification e.g. CFA/ Qualified Actuary/ Accountant or qualified by experience. A high impact individual, who provides confident and credible challenge to stakeholders within the business including the Investment and Finance teams with the ability to present complex information in a straightforward and clear manner facilitating the right actions and responses. A general knowledge of statutory, legal and regulatory frameworks, risk management, corporate governance, and insurance company products, organisation and structures with the ability to contribute to a fluid and matrix style team structure.
