Job Description

Our client is a highly respected firm with a fast-growing patents practice at the heart of its wider IP group. The team works with an impressive portfolio of clients, ranging from multinational technology and life sciences companies through to fast-growth ventures and individuals with transformative ideas. Its expertise spans diverse sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical devices, chemicals, engineering, automotive, software, AI, cryptography and telecoms.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving practice that is frequently instructed on high-profile, high-value patent disputes before the UK Patents Court, the Unified Patent Court and European courts. With significant opportunities for development and progression, the role offers exposure to cutting-edge cases and the chance to play an integral part in the team’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

* Advising on a wide range of contentious patent matters, including SPCs, FRAND disputes and freedom-to-operate issues
* Managing litigation before the High Court, IPEC and the Unified Patent Court
* Supporting clients in multi-jurisdictional disputes and strategic enforcement actions
* Handling IP-related commercial disputes, such as licensing disagreements and contractual claims
* Mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the development of the wider patents team
* Engaging in business development, client care and firm-wide initiatives

Requirements:

* 4–8 years’ PQE in contentious IP, with strong experience in patent litigation
* Solid procedural knowledge, with “White Book” experience preferred
* A passion for patent litigation and a strong commitment to building a career in this field
* A science or technical background is desirable, though not essential
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide both technical and commercial advice
* Strong organisational skills, capable of managing a varied caseload independently
* A collaborative approach, with the confidence to lead client matters and mentor colleagues
* Interest in further professional development (eg Oxford IP Diploma)
