Role Description
The Arts in Health Recovery Practitioner will provide arts‑based groups and one‑to‑one sessions to support individuals’ mental health recovery. They will support interested individuals to access creative arts‑based or other groups in their local community as they transition from EPMHS, for their ongoing wellbeing. The post holder will be a core member of the enhanced primary care mental health multidisciplinary team, carrying out initial assessments and receiving training and clinical supervision from an arts therapist.
Location & Hours
The post is 3 days a week, based in Ware, covering the East and South East of Hertfordshire, primarily Bishop Stortford and Cheshunt.
Responsibilities
* Providing group arts‑based sessions for service users.
* Supporting individuals to access arts‑based sessions in the local community by offering navigation and support to transition from specialist NHS services.
* Building relationships with local arts‑based, community, voluntary and faith‑based services to improve access to supportive interventions, including co‑production of interventions and provision of training.
* Supporting people who are struggling with being discharged from HPFT and are finding it hard to engage with third‑sector organisations and the wider community.
* Carrying out initial assessments for the Enhanced Primary Care Service as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* Working closely with the Adult Community Mental Health services within HPFT, promoting the recovery agenda, its values and principles, with co‑production as a key guiding principle.
Qualifications & Competencies
* Clinical awareness of mental health issues and good knowledge of arts for health and wellbeing.
* Ability to negotiate appropriate service provision to meet individual needs.
* Experience or training in creative arts, arts‑based interventions or community engagement.
* Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adhere to the recovery agenda.
