What difference will you make?
This is the chance to make a real difference to animals, people and the rescue community as a whole. The UK animal rescue industry is facing some of its toughest times. Rescues and sanctuaries are full and a great many have closed or are facing closure. There has been a huge rise in cases of animal abandonment and neglect. Sadly, this includes within rescues too. We are actively campaigning for all rescues and sanctuaries to be properly licensed and inspected. In the UK, it's estimated that around 20% of dog adoptions fail. This leads to some dogs having multiple failed placements and others languishing in kennels for many years. While we accept that some dogs, through no fault of their own, cannot be rehomed for behavioural reasons, many more can with the right rehabilitation and ongoing training plans. Working with adopters for the best interest of the animal. A great many dogs come into rescues because owners face a sudden crisis. This could be serious illness, injury, mental health, job loss, family breakdown or other crisis. Some owners are left in a position where they don't want to give up their dog but cannot afford to feed it or no longer have the capacity to walk the dog. Noddfa Bach can offer support and help keep dogs in their own home or help them be rehomed from home. Therefore keeping dogs out of the kennel system, helping vulnerable members of society and alleviating pressure on other rescues.
What are we looking for?
The ideal person will have experience in Chairing a CIO, developing and implementing strategy and mentoring senior leaders. They must be skilled in inclusive leadership, good governance, creating a strong and positive team atmosphere, and have excellent communication skills. We are seeking someone with the utmost integrity, that believes in our ethos of promoting kindness and positivity, they must have a love of animals and be passionate about leading change in the animal welfare system.
What will you be doing?
Noddfa Bach/Little Sanctuary set up in February 2024, we are currently transitioning to a CIO. We have a small dedicated team that we are now looking to expand so that we can push forward and make big changes in the animal rescue world. The Chair will hold the Board and team to account for Noddfa Bach's vision and mission, provide good governance, inclusive leadership, a positive atmosphere and ensure that the Board and members fulfil their duties and responsibilities. The Chair will line manage and support the CEO and ensure that the Board and Team work effectively as one to push forward Noddfa Bach's vision for the future. They may also be asked to act as an ambassador and public face of Noddfa Bach.
