Essential Criteria: PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.

Location: Bucknall, Stoke on Trent

Contract Type: Full-time

Hours: hours per week (4 days)

Salary: M1 – UPS2

The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

We are currently looking for an experienced Full Time Teacher for our 'Outstanding' rated Aurora Hanley School. The school supports young people aged 6 - with ASC, communication and sensory needs. Behaviours across the school are excellent. The team is warm, friendly and supportive.

We are looking to appoint someone with experience of delivering outcomes for young people who are primary age and some at secondary age but working below age related expectations. Content delivered follows the Primary National Curriculum. This post will suit someone with experience of teaching a range of subjects across the Primary age range KS1/KS2.

The Role:

As a lower school Class Teacher, your role will be to provide high quality teaching that will enable pupils to make progress not just academically but socially and emotionally. You must be creative and have high expectations. An understanding of ASC would be useful to support the planning and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum to enable our pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas.

You’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to our Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants and play a key role in their Professional Development Reviews.

Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Additionally; you will also be expected to carefully monitoring the health, well-being and personal care of our pupils; informing Pastoral/clinical/ SEND support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

1. Qualified Teacher status with experience of delivering the Primary National Curriculum
2. Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes
3. Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
4. Experience of working with young people with ASD
5. Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
6. Ability to create and maintain strong nurturing relationships with young people
7. Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety.
8. Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.
9. A flexible approach, a high level creativity and the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs
