The midwife for risk and governance will learn and develop skills that can be utilised within the team. This is a development role that enables the job holder to gain experience within a specialised field.
They will be reviewing LERNS, allocating them according to level of risk and ensuring that the process is managed efficiently and appropriately. Supporting the risk team to identify and share learning from incidents with a view to improve patient safety.
Will be required to prepare and present case reviews for the weekly MDT meeting.

Essential criteria
1. British NMC Registered and Practising Midwife
Desirable criteria
2. Practice Assessor
Experience
Essential criteria
3. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of midwifery in all areas of the service.
4. Awareness and understanding of patient safety
Desirable criteria
5. Experience of managing complaints or feedback.
6. Experience in the processing of LERN/DATIX
7. Experience in service/quality improvement
Technical Skills
Essential criteria
8. Up to date core skills/training
9. Completed preceptorship program
10. Keyboard skills and ability to use IT equipment and associated maternity database
11. Competent and able to provide midwifery care in all areas
12. Articulate with excellent communication skills
13. Able to mentor students

15. Report writing
16. Canva/Excel/Powerpoint experience useful
17. Ability to present with confidence and articulately at risk and governance meetings.
