Overview

We are seeking a competent and professional general builder who will be able to fulfil the needs of the company in return for a competitive salary and enjoyable work environment. The right candidate must be driven, hard-working and have basic computer literacy.


Responsibilities / Main Tasks

* Carry out skilled DIY & general maintenance work involved in all aspects of onsite building maintenance, both internal and external.
* General building DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, replacement of tiling, flooring, and painting and decorating, skimming and basic electric competence.
* Regular checks and assessments of private and public areas; liaising with Line Manager and other team members; performing jobs as and when required.
* Installation inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building fixtures and fittings.
* General plumbing including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks, unblocking drains, installing new sinks, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC).
* General carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, architraves, window frames, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware.
* General tiling - floors and walls.
* Flooring work, such as carpet tiles and wooden flooring.
* General painting & decorating.
* Basic electrical maintenance.
* Day to day care and maintenance of gardens and hedging.
* Furniture moves and removals and general garden carpentry such as assembling and maintaining furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware.
* Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices, health and safety.
* Liaise with Line Manager and other team members; perform jobs as required and carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract requirements.
* Carry out tasks within specified time limits; ensure compliance with applicable codes, legislation and procedures including health and safety; maintain accurate records/documentation related to your work.
* Immediately report problems/failures that may impact the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager.
* Meet targets and contribute to team objectives; contribute to the efficient running of the team; adhere to all organisation policies and procedures.
* From time to time, participate in special projects as reasonably required of the job role.
* You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager; contribute to the smooth running of the organisation generally.
* Secondary Tasks/Duties: perform reasonable tasks required to maintain, promote, develop, and expand the business and must obey lawful orders and comply with policies.
* You are responsible for the equipment provided in your role; ensure proper use, maintenance and safety equipment as applicable.


Essential Abilities / Competencies

* Experience in this type of job role minimum 3 years.
* Valid UK driving license.
* Requisite knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the environment.
* Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to this role.
* Skills in general DIY and maintenance and general gardening including assessment, installation, repair, and maintenance.
* Friendly and approachable with a CAN DO attitude.
* Good customer service understanding and delivery.
* Good attention to detail.
* Demonstrable time management and project management skills.
* Commitment to maintaining knowledge, technical skills and qualifications necessary to comply with organisation rules, regulations and applicable law.


Special Working Conditions

* You may be expected to work in accordance with the organisation's overtime policies.
* The role may require travel within the area covered by the team, with occasional travel outside that area as required.

* Salary: £35,000.00 per calendar year
* Hours/Days: 9:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday; may require additional hours to meet team needs and targets.


Eligibility & Logistics

Eligibility: In line with the requirements of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.

Job Type: Full-time

Experience: Maintenance: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification: Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (required)

Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required) – Work Location: In person
