What's involved with this role: Job Title: Technical Officer Ref: Torridge 5276965 Pay rate: £16.39 per hour PAYE Role length: Anticipated 3 months Working arrangements: Candidate will ideally be local to the area Additional requirements: Driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits DBS requirement: DBS is required for this role The role: We are seeking an organised and professional Technical Officer role who will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and improvement of buildings, systems, and infrastructure. The role focuses on delivering safe, compliant, and efficient facilities by coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing contractors, and supporting refurbishment or upgrade projects. This role is crucial in ensuring that facilities remain safe, reliable, and fit for purpose, supporting both the day-to-day operations and the long-term strategic goals of the organisation. In order to carry out this role, you will need strong technical knowledge of building systems, understanding of health & safety and be able develop external relationships with contractors and suppliers. Key responsibilities: Monitoring and maintaining building services, equipment, and infrastructure Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements Coordinating and supervising contractors and service providers Maintaining accurate records of assets, maintenance, and performance Supporting facilities projects and contributing technical advice to planning and delivery What the client is looking for: Educated to HNC/NVQ4 level in a relevant area of construction Good knowledge of construction and design specification Good knowledge of legislation, policy and good practice in the field of responsive repairs, servicing, compliance and contract management Good knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM Regulations Experience of building surveying, inspections and repairs diagnosis Experience of Project and Contract Management & administration Experience of works specification and design for procurement and contracts Computer literate Excellent communication skills across all levels Ability to present reports and attend meetings etc Ability to interpret and apply legislation relevant to the service How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
