Organisation Platform Cricket Salary £20 per hour (L2 Coaches) / £25 per hour (L3 Coaches) Location Central London Contract type Fixed Term (Part time) Closing date 2 January 2026 Interview date 7 January 2026 Job Description THE PROGRAMME
The Platform Cricket Programme is an exciting initiative aimed at supporting more young people from deprived and ethnic minority backgrounds in London to develop in and through cricket.
We create new “Pop Up” youth cricket clubs in areas where there is currently little to no provision, working directly with schools to introduce the game and recruit new participants. These activities are set-up to remove as many of the known barriers to voluntary participation as possible but importantly, they also feature opportunities for young people to positively replace and address the reasons why they may otherwise fall into poor health, antisocial behaviour and crime in later years.
The community-based activities aim to incubate young peoples’ interest in the game and develop their skills adequately so that transition into an established, mainstream cricket club becomes more likely from 11 years old and upwards.
We currently work with almost 25,000 children in more than 60 Platform Cricket Hubs across 20 London Boroughs.
THE ROLE
We hold the highest standards and expectations of our schools’ coaching programme. We aim for all sessions to be the equivalent of “outstanding” PE lessons and therefore must be enjoyable, active and safe, as well as demonstrating an appropriate rate of progress and skill development for all learners.
We welcome applications from ECB Level 2 (or above) cricket coaches who preferably have some experience of working in schools. It is also preferable, although not essential, that they have played the game to a reasonable standard.
Whilst we will support coaches with strong governance and management alongside planned professional development, our coaches are our programme’s main representatives to young people, their school and their family. Therefore we require candidates that have a:
•Personable manner with confident communication skills
•Positive and energetic enthusiasm for improving young peoples’ lives through sport
•Strong work ethic, dedication and commitment
•High level of integrity and reliability
Additionally, the community-based activities involve direct and autonomous responsibility for participants which requires post-holders to demonstrate good judgement, safe practice, sound risk management, pastoral care and orderly administration skills.
The successful applicant will work as part of an expanding coaching team with a broad range of backgrounds. Platform Cricket aims to support employees in achieving their own personal career goals so you will be expected to both take part in, and from time to time contribute to, professional development training.
Platform Cricket is committed to the safeguarding of young people and as such all successful applicants will be expected to either hold or undergo an Enhanced DBS Check.
