Are you an experienced EHS professional ready to take the lead in shaping a positive, proactive and sustainable safety culture? Do you thrive on influencing others, driving improvement and ensuring the highest standards of environment, health and safety across a complex business?


We are looking for an exceptional Environment, Health & Safety Lead to provide expert advice, leadership and strategic oversight across the CBAS estate. This is a highly visible and influential role, partnering closely with business leaders, site managers and colleagues to ensure legal compliance, effective risk management and the prevention of accidents and ill health.

YOUR ROLE


As Environment, Health & Safety Lead you will:


* Act as the subjectmatter expert and trusted advisor to leaders and managers on all Environment, Health & Safety matters, ensuring full compliance with local, national and international legislation
* Support the Head of EHS in developing, implementing and evaluating a robust EHS management system, strategies and plans to reduce risk and improve performance
* Lead and manage operational EHS plans across all divisions, ensuring alignment with wider environmental initiatives and keeping senior stakeholders informed
* Champion a strong safety culture by actively supporting, challenging and influencing managers and colleagues to embed responsibility, awareness and safe behaviours
* Lead a programme of monthly EHS inspections across all sites, ensuring actions are tracked, followed up and closed within agreed timescales
* Drive continuous improvement projects that engage colleagues, build capability and deliver sustainable improvements to EHS performance
* Coach, support and upskill managers and operatives, delivering inhouse EHS training and promoting safer working practices across the organisation
* Support managers to ensure all risk assessments are completed, reviewed and recorded, advising on effective control measures and operational changes where required
* Ensure accidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated, recorded and acted upon, with learnings embedded across the business
* Escalate serious or immediate risks, unsafe practices and reportable incidents to the Head of EHS, including RIDDOR reporting and recommendations for corrective action
* Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, insurers and enforcing authorities, to ensure compliance and best practice
* Work with managers to identify training needs, develop training plans and source suitable internal or external providers
* Support managers and the People Team with EHSrelated claims, litigation and responses where required
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and assurance schemes, including UFAS, FIAS and NOPS
* Manage the delegated EHS budget, providing meaningful KPIs, data and insights as part of seniorlevel reporting
* Act as line manager for the CBAL EHS Apprentice, providing regular supervision, appraisals and development opportunities
* Chair regular EHS Committee meetings alongside Site Managers, ensuring actions and outcomes are clearly documented and delivered
* Develop, maintain and test emergency response plans, leading regular drills to ensure site preparedness
* Adhere to all Company and Group policies and procedures relating to Environmental Health & Safety
* Ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice, are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, & NOPS assurance schemes.


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED


You'll be a confident, knowledgeable and credible EHS leader with strong influencing skills and a passion for continuous improvement. You'll be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with handson delivery, using data, insight and collaboration to drive real change.


Essential

* NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum (Diploma preferred)
* ISEP Associate or Practitioner Certificate or equivalent
* Membership of IOSH and ISEP
* Confident & experienced user of MS Office products and H&S management systems
* Strong knowledge and application of H&S legislation
* Minimum 5 years or experience in a similar EHS position, preferably within a large multi-functional organisation.
* Excellent, demonstrable, leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to analyse complex data and generate actionable insights.
* Proficiency in EHS management software and tools.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Demonstrable experience of working within ISO 14001 frameworks


Desirable

* CDM experience
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
* Line management experience
* Experience of working with 45001
