Bilfinger UK is seeking a Rigging Supervisor to be based at Hinkley Point on a permanent basis.
Role Overview
As a Rigging Supervisor, you will be responsible for assessing the strength of pulleys, booms, braces, and cables for each job. You will work as part of a team moving heavy loads, such as pipes, using machinery like telecranes, cherry pickers, and forklifts. Rigging is a highly responsible role in the engineering and construction industry, requiring teamwork, safety awareness, and precise planning.
You will typically work on construction sites, often outdoors, assisting in machinery and equipment installation. You will collaborate with skilled tradespeople to assemble or dismantle plant and structural steelwork, ranging from sports stadiums to oil refineries.
Your duties include attaching hooks, chains, and cables for safe lifting, building equipment around loads, and directing crane operations using hand signals, radios, or walkie-talkies. Good communication skills are vital.
Key Responsibilities
1. Select appropriate gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches based on load specifications.
2. Fabricate and repair rigging equipment using hand and power tools.
3. Assemble and install supporting structures, rigging, hoists, and pulling gear.
4. Attach pulleys and blocks to structures with bolts and clamps.
5. Secure loads with rigging for movement, ensuring safety.
6. Direct hoisting operations through signals or communication devices.
7. Test rigging for safety and reliability.
8. Dismantle, maintain, and store rigging equipment.
9. Manipulate rigging lines and heavy equipment to move or support materials.
10. Align, level, and anchor machinery.
11. Control heavy equipment movement in confined spaces.
12. Perform surface cleaning and dressing of machinery and components.
Qualifications
* NVQ in Moving Loads or Capital Plant Steel Structures or Erecting Steel Structures
* CCNSG Certification
