We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a dynamic and nurturing SEN/SEMH school in Newcastle on a long-term temporary basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may also have associated learning difficulties or additional needs such as ASD or ADHD.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering a broad and engaging curriculum tailored to the individual needs of learners, supporting both their academic development and emotional well-being. You'll work closely with a supportive team of teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and multi-agency professionals to provide a holistic and inclusive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver and assess differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs
* Build strong relationships with students, acting as a positive role model
* Use restorative practices and de-escalation strategies effectively
* Manage classroom behaviour positively and in line with school policies
* Work collaboratively with support staff and external professionals
* Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to EHCP reviews
About You:
We're looking for someone who has:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (essential)
* Experience working in SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, or a SEN school (preferred)
* A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour regulation strategies
* Resilience, compassion, and commitment to inclusive education
* The ability to adapt quickly and work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team
