Are you a Highways Design Engineer looking for a role where you can gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, rather than being siloed into one area?
An established and growing transport & infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Highways Design Engineer into its Gateshead office. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative team delivering a wide range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Opportunity
You'll be joining a well-rounded consultancy offering services across:
* Highways design
* Transport planning
* Drainage
* Environmental services
This 'one-stop' approach means you'll gain exposure to projects from early-stage planning and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery, giving you a much broader skillset than a typical design-only role.
Projects are varied and include:
* Residential developments
* Commercial and mixed-use schemes
* Education facilities
* Logistics and industrial sites
* Regeneration and public sector projects

The Role
As a Highways Design Engineer, you'll support the delivery of highway design packages across a range of projects.
Responsibilities will include:
* Designing roads, junctions, roundabouts and pavements
* Supporting the delivery of highway schemes from concept through to detailed design
* Producing technical drawings using AutoCAD / Civil 3D
* Working closely with transport planners, drainage engineers and other disciplines
* Supporting project delivery across multiple schemes
* Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders where required
What We're Looking For
* Experience in highways design, particularly:
o Roads
o Roundabouts
o Pavement design
* Experience using AutoCAD (Civil 3D beneficial)
* Experience working within a consultancy environment
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
* A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
