Safety and Access Ltd is a leading provider of scaffolding and work-at-height training and consultancy services. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including CISRS skill training, independent scaffolding inspections, scaffolding consultancy, and PASMA lightweight aluminium tower scaffolding training. Operating across diverse industries such as construction, petrochemical, nuclear, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and power generation, we have established fully accredited training facilities in Nottingham, Humberside, and Wandsworth (London). Our international presence includes CISRS-accredited facilities in the Middle East, Asia, and the Far East, with plans for further expansion.
Job Purpose
To ensure the smooth operation of the training and learning facility while overseeing administrative, compliance, operational, and commercial functions. This role is pivotal in driving sales growth across Scaffold Training, Consultancy, and retained clients, leveraging strong commercial acumen to enhance business development. Responsibilities include managing training delivery infrastructure, audits and accreditations (e.g., ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials, City & Guilds), financial reporting, HR support, vehicle and asset management, and general office coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Training Management & Assessment Coordination
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the training and learning facility.
* Ensure training, assessment, and internal verification procedures are effective, standardized, and compliant.
* Liaise with assessors, SAA staff, awarding bodies, and external verifiers.
* Organize and attend standardization and review meetings, delivering information, advice, and guidance to staff and learners.
* Supervise and coach staff involved in the training process.
* Ensure key deliverables (Equality, Diversity, Health & Safety) are embedded in assessments.
* Collaborate with partner colleges, training providers, and employers to meet training quality standards.
Commercial & Business Development
* Drive sales growth across Scaffold Training, Consultancy, and retained client portfolios through proactive business development strategies.
* Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities, including upselling and cross-selling services to existing clients.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships to enhance retention and secure repeat business.
* Contribute to the creation and execution of sales strategies, including pricing models and promotional campaigns.
* Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform commercial decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
* Collaborate with the General Manager to set and achieve revenue targets for training and consultancy services.
Compliance, Audit & Quality Assurance
* Lead audit preparation and successful certification for ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials, and other relevant accreditations.
* Manage CQMS compliance in collaboration with internal teams.
* Ensure adherence to Equality of Opportunity and Health & Safety regulations.
Operational & Office Management
* Ensure efficient and well-coordinated day-to-day office operations.
* Manage staff travel arrangements (hotels, flights, ferries, etc.).
* Oversee vehicle fleet, including servicing, tax, insurance, and renewals.
* Track monthly van checks and coordinate workwear procurement and distribution.
* Maintain monthly schedules for timesheets and course capacity.
* Coordinate leave planning and monitor training diary usage.
Financial & Strategic Reporting
* Prepare financial reports for weekly management meetings, including sales performance metrics.
* Contribute to pricing strategies, budgetary planning, and revenue forecasting.
* Report monthly on footfall (e.g., CATCH centre), training metrics, and commercial performance.
Procurement & HR Support
* Support HR functions by booking employee training and monitoring HR training compliance.
* Assist in bid writing, funding applications, and audits for training programs.
* Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to drive sales and revenue growth.
* Excellent leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to build client relationships.
* Thorough understanding of NVQ National Standards and assessment processes.
* Proven ability to deliver performance targets and manage quality systems.
* Strong IT literacy (MS Office, CRM systems, sales tracking tools).
* Ability to motivate teams, manage deadlines, and implement operational and commercial improvements.
* Strategic mindset with the ability to analyse market trends and develop business opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in training management, operations, compliance, or commercial roles.
* Demonstrable success in sales or business development, preferably within training, consultancy, or related industries.
* Experience with audits (ISO, City & Guilds, Cyber Essentials).
* Experience working with awarding bodies and internal/external verifiers.
* Familiarity with funding streams, such as City & Guilds or public education contracts.
* Knowledge of scaffolding or work-at-height industries is advantageous but not essential.
