Targeted Support Officer - School Attendance Location: Lewisham area Contract: Full-time | Fixed-term A new opportunity has arisen for a Targeted Support Officer to help drive forward improvements in school attendance across the Lewisham area. This role has been created in response to the statutory requirements set out in the Working Together to Improve School Attendance guidance (2024). You will lead targeted termly support meetings with schools not currently buying into traded attendance services, working alongside internal teams and partner agencies to identify pupils at risk of persistent and severe absence. Key responsibilities include analysing attendance data, guiding schools on policy and practice, co-ordinating multi-agency responses, and ensuring high-quality support plans are in place and delivered. You will play a key role in promoting a culture where regular attendance is recognised as critical to pupil outcomes. Requirements: In-depth knowledge of school attendance legislation and safeguarding practices Strong experience working with schools and vulnerable families Confident in leading multi-agency meetings and using data to inform planning Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills This is a rewarding opportunity to make a measurable difference to the lives of children and young people through direct support and strategic intervention.
