Health Improvement Officer

Position – Band 6, 22.5 hours per week, salary scale £41,608 - £50,702 pro rata. The role is based at Kings Cross Hospital, Dundee, and requires flexibility for occasional out‑of‑hours work.


Overview

The Health Improvement Officer will work predominantly in the Sexual Health and Blood‑borne Virus (BBV) Managed Care Network. The post will develop, implement and deliver evidence‑based health promotion activities aimed at improving sexual and reproductive health, preventing BBVs and supporting people living with a BBV in Tayside.


Responsibilities

* Coordinate and lead health improvement projects with partners across health services, education, third sector and social care settings.
* Develop and deliver training sessions and specialist advice on sexual health and BBV issues.
* Support the delivery of the cool2talk question and answer service for young people.
* Work collaboratively with service users, ensuring that those affected by sexual health and BBV services are heard and involved.
* Travel across the geographical area as required and attend meetings or events outside normal working hours when necessary.
* Achieve mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and comply with the Code of Conduct throughout employment.


Qualifications

* Degree level education in public health, health promotion, or a related field.
* Postgraduate diploma (or equivalent experience) in public health or health promotion.
* Relevant operational‑level experience in health improvement, with a proven track record of developing and delivering health promotion activities.
* Excellent communication, influencing and partnership working skills.
* Strong knowledge of health improvement theory and practice.
