Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior General Practice Pharmacy Technician within our Primary Care Pharmacy Team based at GP practices and other community settings in North Ayrshire.
What You Will Do
* Work with practices and General Practice Clinical Pharmacists to identify specific prescribing initiatives.
* Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in GP practices and care homes, ensuring safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines in line with local and national guidelines.
* Support activities designed to improve the effectiveness and/or safety of repeat prescribing systems.
* Deliver all required aspects of the pharmacotherapy service as per agreed work plans, including medicines reconciliation, serial prescribing, medication review and acute prescribing in line with local and national protocols.
* Work with the Hospital Pharmacy Team on prescribing issues as appropriate, e.g. discharge audit between scheduled and unscheduled care.
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
* N/SVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services and SQA National Certificate pharmaceutical sciences (or equivalent).
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Relevant experience as a qualified pharmacy technician in hospital, community pharmacy or primary care.
* Portfolio demonstrating competence of previous and current pharmacy practice skills & knowledge and continuing professional development.
* Computer literate with knowledge of information technology including Microsoft Office.
* Good communication skills (oral and written).
* Good interpersonal skills.
Hours
37 hours per week – 8.30 to 4.30, Monday to Friday.
UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership
A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
