GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to the Sales Director New Equipment – Europe & Africa and working with the OE Sales Manager to promote the sale of Plenty Pumps to existing customers within our Export markets. To seek new customers, new markets and new applications for our products within all territories.

The Applications Engineer role will assist Customers to identify / verify their requirements and specifications and will prepare competitive costings / quotations / tenders that are both technically and commercially accurate, in accordance with Company policies and procedures. The Job Holder will interface with both Customers and internal stakeholders including Engineering and Design to provide support and solutions that meet the needs and expectations of Customers, strengthening relationships and positively impacting the opportunity to win orders.





PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Make calls to affiliates (regional sales office’s), existing and prospective customers to promote the features of the products and services to solicit enquiries and follow up quotations. In particular ensure all affiliates (regional sales office’s), major customers and potential customers are regularly visited and kept informed on products and services. Convert quotes to orders, and to equal or better order intake plan.
* Evaluate and assess market trends, competition and participate in the product, price and promotion policy of pumps and aftermarket services
* Train and motivate Affiliates (regional sales office’s), Distributors and Agents.
* Give Project and Product Support to affiliates (regional sales office’s), customer and internal departments.
* Provide visit reports and liaison between all sections of the Operations to ensure timely and appropriate action is taken on customer and prospects requests
* In liaison with the Product & Sales Manager and Internal Sales Manager, design and write promotional literature and data to aid sales. Support marketing activities.
* Assist Department when required to help with busy quotation periods.
* Implement, maintain and improve the company’s quality system.
* Assist in hand over of orders to contract, engineering, purchasing and production.
* Be available to travel at short notice due to the demands of the business (UK & Worldwide).
* Responsible for the upkeep of the PMP price book and E-Sales
* Develops and submits a detailed proposal to the Customer in accordance with the applicable Tendering Policies and Procedures (ITO - Inquiry to Order).
* Ensures the CPQ tender data and tendering front log are accurately completed and actively managed.
* Provides ongoing technical and commercial clarifications as requested by the Customer and internal stakeholders to support successful order placement.
* Provides tendering support to regional tendering and sales teams for win order strategies across the product lines to ensure all activities occur on time and with high quality from proposal receipt to handover.
* Works as a member of the Global Tendering Team to ensure KPI’s and Metrics are achieved.

* Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings and other technical information. Thinks creatively and has in-depth engineering knowledge to solve problems, provide technical solutions and develop alternatives.

* Is self-motivated, highly organized and methodical. Displays exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, even when handling multiple demands.

* Communicates fluently (verbal and written) in English





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or commensurate experience in a Sales/Commercial/Tendering organization required
* Ideally, with 2-5 years related experience. Works independently and requires minimal guidance.
* Ideally, experience in reviewing specifications and writing comprehensive and accurate bids
* Experience of Rotating Equipment / Positive Displacement Pumps
* Experience in the oil & gas / power & energy / industrial market
* Experience using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as SAP and other technical applications.





You must have valid right to work in the UK and be able to obtain Security Clearance to apply for this role.
