The post holder will work in collaboration with clinical colleagues to provide a comprehensive ENT service to patients in the Wrexham area. This will include ensuring that all appropriate waiting lists and waiting times are adhered to that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner that on-call commitments are covered appropriately and that the principles of risk management and clinic governance are maintained at all times.
Main duties of the job
* Provide and develop further with clinical colleagues ENT services for the Organisation in collaboration with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care, where appropriate, to provide an integrated service for patients.
* Participate in the development of the ENT service, treatment, protocols and guidelines and the greater knowledge in the management of ENT conditions.
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
* Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, risk management and clinical audit. This will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice.
* Ensure own practice is up-to-date. This will include taking responsibility for own clinical professional development and participating in the organisation's performance and annual review system.
* Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers.
* Comply with all relevant organisation policies and procedures.
* Participate in a 1 in 7 on call rota. Sessions to be confirmed at interview. The on call rota covers both Glan Clwyd and Wrexham out of hours.

Wrexham Maelor Hospital is a district general hospital in North East Wales serving a catchment population of 300,000. It is situated on the outskirts of Wrexham. The catchment area extends beyond Wrexham to include parts of Flintshire, Denbighshire, Powys, south Gwynedd, Cheshire and Shropshire. Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales, having a thriving and diverse industrial centre and also being the market town for a large rural hinterland. With the decline in the local coal and steel industries there has been a steady progression towards light industry in the area, including electronics, pharmaceuticals and plastics. Chester is 10 miles away by dual carriageway and both Manchester and Liverpool are about 45 minutes from Wrexham by car.
