An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Officer (Community Housing) to join the Community Housing Teams within Angus.
You will be responsible for a challenging but rewarding remit that includes:
* Taking a proactive, person-centred approach by enabling, advising, assisting, and providing specific support to tenants and other customers on housing options, tenancy matters, property and estate management, and rent accounts to sustain their tenancy or to help them make informed re-housing decisions, ensuring high customer service standards.
* Playing a lead role in homelessness prevention by assessing the housing, support, and other needs of customers at risk of homelessness, referring to other services if necessary, and interpreting legislation, national guidance (Code of Guidance and Housing Options Guidance), and service standards to meet statutory duties, including provision of temporary accommodation when required.
* Managing lettings for mainstream, temporary accommodation, and travelling sites using the Common Allocations Policy and Community Based Lettings Plans, Section 5 referrals, and nominations, to meet customers' assessed needs while making the best use of Angus's housing stock and minimizing void times.
* Ensuring the effective maintenance of houses (including furnishings) and estates, and compliance with tenancy and occupancy conditions.
* Establishing, developing, and maintaining good working relationships with tenants, tenant groups, residents, departments, services, agencies, and professionals to promote safe, secure, and stable communities.
* Providing out-of-hours services as part of a rota, including emergency repairs, and assisting with Civil Contingencies administration when required.
This position is temporary until no later than 13 August 2026.
