 
        
        Function Nursing Facility Position Registered Nurse Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Renal Registered Nurse Acute based at Life Renal Dialysis, Wits Donald Gordon, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to renal patients in order to maximize a positive outcome for the customer in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.
Critical Outputs
To provide quality patient care by
 1. Providing quality basic and specialized nursing care
 2. Continual communication with the patient and family with regards to the patient’s condition
 3. Administering of medication in accordance to ethical, legal framework
 4. Review and comply with internal policies and protocols
 5. Ensuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specification
 6. Advocate the patient by motivating acuity to the case management and notify the doctor of any limitations
Provide effective people management by
 7. Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team
 8. Provide training and development to ensure personal and professional growth
 9. Ensure the Renal team works according to the scope of practice in order to ensure the correct skills mix is utilized
Provide effective cost management by
 10. Managing all stock used according to unit specific policies and protocols
 11. Control and manage staff hours leave in accordance with the company policy
Provide effective Infection Control and SHEQ by
 12. Maintaining a safe and holistic patient environment in order to enforce infection control
 13. Promoting a safe and healthy working environment by completing SHEQ alerts and incident reports to the SHEQ Coordinator
Ensuring effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders by
 14. Conducting in-service orientation on doctor specific preferences
 15. Execute doctor’s requests and prescriptions after patient rounds
 16. Assisting in multi-disciplinary team members with the execution of their duties
Ensuring the effective functioning of equipment and instrumentation
 17. Check equipment and instrumentation are in working condition on a daily basis and report any defaults to Unit Manager and Clinical Engineer
 18. Educate and supervise staff and doctors on the correct utilization of specialized equipment and instrumentation
Ensuring effective record keeping by
 19. Ensuring records and accurately completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirements
Requirements
 20. Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
 21. Relevant Degree or Diploma in Clinical Technology
 22. Nurses - Current registration with SANC
 23. Clinical Technologists (Renal) – Current registration with HPCSA
 24. Nursing work experience in a Renal Unit
 25. To administer both acute and chronic dialysis treatments
 26. Experience and knowledge of all acute and chronic dialysis treatments in ICU and High Care setting
 27. Must be willing to fulfill a role in the unit according to the flexi-hours system and acute dialysis call system
 28. Own vehicle with a valid license and flexibility to travel for acute dialysis
 29. Ability to work with dialysis machines makes and models
