Associate Money Editor

The Times and The Sunday Times are seeking an associate editor for the personal finance department.

The successful candidate will write and edit news and analysis for the Money pages and for all sections of the papers across print and digital. You must have original ideas, a passion for data and be able to write hard news, colourful features and in-depth analysis.

Applicants must have experience working as a senior reporter or editor at a national newspaper, major news organisation or trade publication. You will have precise copy-editing skills and the ability to spot strong Money stories where others might miss them.

Responsibilities
Successfully manage productive relationships with the Head of Money, Money editor, and the deputy Money editor and journalists across the newsrooms

Conceive and deliver distinctive engaging Money content that appeals to Times and Sunday Times readers

Work with production colleagues in design, pictures and sub-editing to produce money supplements as efficiently as possible, meeting deadlines

Write and edit digital packages that increase engagement and support subscriber growth

Investigate money issues and associated features that would inform and appeal to Times and Sunday

Forward-plan, working with journalists on long-range projects

Use social networking and other digital platforms for content generation and to promote The Times and The Sunday Times Money content

Pitch, commission and edit Money news stories and successfully manage productive relationships with the News editors and Homepage editors

Skills and experience
Experience working as a senior reporter or editor on a national newspaper or trade magazine

Experience in and a demonstrable passion for personal finance journalism with good contacts in the field

An ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and with rigorous accuracy

Able to use social media platforms to engage current and new audiences for The Times and The Sunday Times

Persuasive presentation skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to problem-solve and negotiate positive outcomes

Able to communicate succinctly and effectively

A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
