Permanent role with a Local AuthorityJob Summary:We are seeking a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join a specialist health team supporting adults with learning disabilities.This role involves delivering high-quality psychological assessments, interventions, and support to individuals whose needs cannot be met by mainstream services alone.The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to service development, supporting carers and families, and promoting access to inclusive health and wellbeing services.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):Provide specialist psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions for adults with learning disabilities.Manage a clinical caseload, including assessment, treatment planning, delivery, and discharge in line with service protocols.Work collaboratively with carers, families, and other professionals to ensure holistic and person-centred care.Supervise assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists as required.Contribute to the development and delivery of training for health and social care professionals, voluntary sector staff, and other stakeholders.Support service development through participation in audits, evaluations, and strategic planning.Promote access to mainstream health and wellbeing services for individuals with learning disabilities.Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
Skills/Experience:Experience working with adults with learning disabilities in a clinical setting.Skilled in delivering psychological assessments and interventions tailored to individual needs.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Experience supervising junior staff or trainees is desirable.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with service users, families, and professionals.Knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and best practice in learning disability services.
Additional Information:Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) and registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.Flexible working arrangements may be considered in line with service needs.
