Finance Assistant – 12-Month Maternity Cover

We are now seeking a Finance Assistant to join us on an initial 12-month maternity cover contract.
The Role
This is a hands-on finance role with core transactional responsibility at its foundation. You will operate at the center of a scaling, fast-paced organisation where accuracy, ownership, and collaboration directly support operational delivery and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Process weekly labour payments and resolve associated queries.
* Manage the purchase ledger, organise payment runs, and liaise with the supply chain.
* Support daily accounting tasks, including data entry and account reconciliations.
* Manage Credit Control across Sales and Retentions, including Accrued Income analysis.
* Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies.
* Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Provide general administrative support to the Finance team.
Skills & Experience
* HNC / HND in Accounting (desirable) or qualified by experience; AAT considered.
* Previous experience in a Finance Assistant or similar role.
* Having worked in an SME (Construction background favourable)
* Solid understanding of core accounting principles.
* High attention to detail and strong accuracy.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; Xero experience advantageous.
* Confident communicator, able to work independently and collaboratively.
* Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
