Band 6 (Hours: 37 per week) — 1‑year term (first instance)
Role Overview
The Practice Education (PE) role supports students, learners and staff within the Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHLD) Practice Education and Development Team. The role aims to develop and support a learning environment that integrates education and lifelong learning into everyday practice, enhancing the quality of the practice learning experience and contributing to the future nursing/midwifery workforce in line with local and national directives.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support to student and staff learning needs within the division.
* Develop and maintain a learning environment where education and lifelong learning are integral to practice.
* Enhance the quality of the practice learning experience for students and staff.
* Lead and support undergraduate nursing students, ensuring appropriate supervision.
* Promote a culture of safe, efficient and person‑centred care through educational initiatives.
* Identify and facilitate training, education, and professional development opportunities for staff.
* Contribute to the presentation of educational programmes at national conferences to raise the profile of NHS Grampian.
* Collaborate with colleagues across Grampian, travelling as required and maintaining a valid UK driving licence.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* UK registered nurse with significant mental health experience at Band 5, including the supervision of undergraduate nurses.
* Leadership and influencing skills evidenced by previous practice improvement or educational initiatives.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of teamwork.
* Degree level education (or equivalent). A teaching qualification would be desirable but is not mandatory at the start of the role.
* Enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development within a high‑pressure mental health environment.
* Valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
