Decant officers will support with the implementation of processes and measure impacts of regeneration by optimising the best use of council services working in partnership with development partners Estate Resident Engagement Panels, voluntary sector, and external providers to improve quality of life by delivering social economic and environmental initiatives to reduce inequalities and help bring an improved quality of life and more affordable housing for residents.
What does a Decant Officer do at Hillingdon?
We are looking for a motivated Decant Officer to join a small team to deliver the councils regeneration schemes. If you have experience of regeneration and can demonstrate a commitment to improving communities through partnership working, we would like to hear from you. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of duties ranging from assessing and managing a caseload of households who are required to move because of an estate regeneration programme. The post-holder will be required to work within agreed timescales to ensure vacant possession of land are achieved in accordance with the estate regeneration development program. The role will involve working with local stakeholders, architects and developers and consultants, through the engagement with residents and at consultation meetings. The Decant Officer’s main focus will be to provide a full range of support to the project team from carrying out housing audits, managing databases, liaising with tenants and developers to ensure new properties are developed in accordance with need, administering viewings/offers, arranging removals, processing home loss and disturbance payments, supporting with community initiatives across regeneration estates and dealing with customer enquires surrounding the redevelopment.
About you
The ideal candidate will have interpersonal skills, be self-disciplined and able to manage a variety of task to project timeframes. Should also be able to convey complex messages in a clear manner to residents, internal and external stakeholders. The role will sometimes require flexible working to meet project deadlines, this includes working some evenings or weekends. The post holder will carry out a range of duties and support the Regeneration Manager and wider redevelopment project team. Key skills/ experience to evidence within your application: • Experience of working in similar environment or identify transferrable skills that can be beneficial in the role. • Experience in successfully engaging with ‘harder to reach groups’ • Demonstrable experience of undertaking surveys with residents, collecting and managing data securely. • Good ICT skills including Microsoft package, minute taking and good knowledge of case management systems.
