Vehicle Technician – Bristol Workshop
With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, Royal Mail is modernising its vehicle fleet. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of makes and models.
Responsibilities
* Perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance and repair procedures on vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment.
* Use personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair of light and heavy goods vehicles.
* Utilise specialist tooling and shared equipment in modern, fully equipped workshops.
Qualifications
* Advanced level mechanic: fully qualified to an IMI Level 3 (Light or Heavy vehicle) or equivalent, with own toolkit for standard repairs.
* Varied vehicle experience: proven vehicle technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, e.g., HGV.
* Valid UK driving licence: full manual licence, preferably HGV with trailer experience.
* High working standards: pride in work and dedication to quality.
* Flexible to service demands: able to work a flexible shift rota and support team as required.
Salary & Benefits
* Salary: £39,715 per annum plus a night shift allowance of £571.27 per month.
* Saturday attendance supplement: £52.10 paid every third week.
* Additional weekend supplement on Saturday (£52.10 per shift).

Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Full time, 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). The role operates on a rotating three‑week shift pattern:
1. Week 1 – Monday to Thursday: 21:00 – 06:00, Friday: 20:30 – midnight.
2. Week 2 – Monday to Thursday: 21:00 – 06:00, Friday: 20:30 – midnight.
3. Week 3 – Monday to Thursday: 21:30 – 06:00, Friday: 22:30 – 06:00 (finishing Saturday morning).
Shift patterns may change over time as operational needs develop; flexibility is required.
