We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance Team. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the security and integrity of information across the council. As Senior Information Governance Officer you will be an outstanding individual who will play a key role in ensuring that Lancashire County Council meets its statutory obligations during ongoing organisational change. We are looking for a professional who has experience of working within a political environment with a good understanding of delivering high-quality, efficient, and inclusive public services. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience of successfully managing complex issues. We are a small team within a large and complex public sector organisation, and the successful candidate must be able to evidence practical experience in a similar role, preferably within the public sector. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver training across the council to promote awareness and best practices in information security. • Provide expert technical support and guidance across all council services. • Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO), and Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) in the development and implementation of council-wide policies. • Represent Information Governance in council projects, ensuring compliance with legal obligations. • Manage and respond to security incidents in line with council policy and legal obligations under Articles 33 and 34 of UK GDPR. • Promote compliance with Article 5(1)(f) of UK GDPR, ensuring personal data is processed securely using appropriate technical and organisational measures. • Liaise with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) regarding data breach reporting and management. What We’re Looking For: • A strong background in information governance and security. • In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection legislation is essential. • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. • Proven experience in information security incident management and policy development. • You'll be passionate about delivering a great service and enjoy dealing with people, asking for support when you need it and building on your knowledge, skills and experience. • You'll be engaging and providing support and legal advice to members of the public, colleagues and external stakeholders, so being able to communicate information clearly and confidently and listen to individual requirements is key to the role. • Being methodical and working under pressure are essential. You will need to be able to prioritise and work with precision on a number of tasks simultaneously.
