Position: Site Foreman (Construction)
Hours: 47.5 hours per week (typically Monday–Friday, with some Saturday/Sunday work as required)
Salary: Negotiable
Reports to: Contract Manager
Location: Various construction sites – UK Based.
Role Overview
The Site Foreman will take responsibility for day-to-day site operations, working alongside the team "on the tools" while also supervising trades, labourers, and subcontractors. The role requires balancing hands-on trade skills with leadership, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Leadership
* Lead by example, working on the tools while supervising site staff and subcontractors.
* Delegate tasks and monitor performance to ensure productivity and quality standards.
* Maintain effective communication with the Site/Project Manager regarding progress, issues, and resource needs.
* Mentor and support apprentices and junior operatives.
Health & Safety
* Enforce and maintain compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Carry out daily site inspections and ensure safe working practices.
* Complete toolbox talks and site inductions for new operatives.
Project Delivery
* Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure works are completed on schedule.
* Coordinate materials, plant, and equipment to prevent delays.
* Identify and report any potential risks, delays, or design issues.
* Work with the Project Manager to achieve deadlines and client expectations.
Quality Control
* Ensure workmanship meets company and industry standards.
* Carry out snagging inspections and rectify defects promptly.
* Maintain accurate site records (timesheets, progress reports, delivery notes).
Communication
* Act as the main point of contact between operatives, subcontractors, and management.
* Provide clear instructions and resolve day-to-day site issues.
* Represent the company professionally with clients, neighbours, and stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a Foreman/Supervisor in the construction industry.
* Strong trade background (e.g. carpentry, bricklaying, or general building).
* CSCS card (Gold/Black preferred).
* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (desirable).
* First Aid at Work certificate (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
