Overview
On the look out for a brand new part-time job with satisfaction you'd struggle to find anywhere else? We're now on the lookout for new colleagues to join our #TeamNLCS in the Motherwell and Wishaw area. We have permanent contracts for 20-30 hours per week and relief opportunities if you’re looking for something a bit more flexible.
The Role
You will play a huge part in making a difference in the lives of young people and adults with disabilities and additional support needs in the Motherwell and Wishaw communities. For these opportunities, the majority of your time will be spent out in the community supporting the people we support with their hobbies and activities. No two days are the same, with activities such as clubs, swimming, going to the gym, bowling, cinema and the pub. Some individuals are studying at college, so you will help them attend their courses. Because swimming is a regular activity, you must be confident in and around water. Some people also need help with daily living tasks, including appointments, shopping, meal planning, cooking, housework, finances, medication and personal care.
About you
We recruit on values and transferrable skills, so you don’t need previous experience in care or qualifications to start your career with us. We will pay you for your training and provide the skills you’ll need. We’ll fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualifications and your yearly SSSC registration fees. For these opportunities, a driver with a full UK manual driving licence is essential as the people we support have their own mobility cars and use them often.
What you will bring
* A caring and compassionate attitude
* The ability to work well in a team
* Good communication and organisational skills
* A positive attitude with a willingness to learn
* The ability to cook
* Confidence in the use of computers
Shift Patterns
We understand the importance of work/life balance and offer flexible shift patterns. Our team delivers support between 08:30 and 21:00, 7 days a week, including sleepovers. Weekends and public holidays may form part of your rota on a rotational basis, but we aim to have you working every second weekend. Shift lengths range from 4 to 8 hours, depending on what suits you and the person you will be supporting.
Questions – If you have any questions, please contact Ronnie Gillooly on 0797 602 8346.
We are looking to fill these vacancies as soon as possible and reserve the right to close the advert early if suitable candidates are found before the closing date. Please apply early to avoid disappointment.
Please note – If you have spent more than 12 months outside the UK (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate as part of our pre-employment checks. If you join our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. You will need to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting employment. Cornerstone welcomes applications from all sections of the community and actively seeks to increase workforce diversity.
