Mechanical Engineer - Piping, Pumps, Valves
A mechanical engineer is required with a background in mechanical design of piping and pump selection from a Mechanical Contractor, Building Services Consultancy, or process industry background.
This is an intermediate Mechanical Engineer level role.
Contract role.
£43.75ph – £46.87ph (£350‑£375 per day).
We require someone to hit the ground running, so only local individuals with 10 years of experience in mechanical building services, commercial HVAC design engineering, or process industry such as Oil & Gas—working with pipework, valves, pumps, and structural engineering—will be considered.
The Role
As a mid‑level individual, you will ensure the governance of designs, accuracy, feasibility, and structural integrity.
* Equipment selection
* Check and submit client submittals and manufacturing drawings, ensuring BOM accuracy
* Prepare accurate specifications and reports
* Design solutions for mission‑critical infrastructure data centre applications
* Manage the change control process, ensuring accurate changes are implemented
* This is a customer‑facing role involving high‑value, engineered‑to‑order solutions
Hours: 38–40 hours, early finish on Fridays.
You
An experienced Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with around 10+ years of experience.
Customer‑facing experience from a design perspective at a senior level.
Likely to have worked in an M&E D&B Contractor, Building Services Consultancy, or process industry (Oil & Gas) involving pipework, pressure vessels, and pump selection.
Knowledge of mechanical commercial building services and HVAC is a distinct advantage.
Ideally able to use SolidWorks and AutoCAD MEP.
This is a contract role. Initial 6‑month contract, Inside IR35.
