Overview
Project Manager within the Advisory Division, Environment and Water Portfolio (ENW), supporting the delivery of water and wastewater construction projects. You will manage the full project lifecycle, engage with stakeholders, and ensure governance and quality standards are met.
Location
Locations include: Birmingham, Bristol, London, Reading, Southampton, Cambridge, Cardiff, Sheffield.
What You Will Contribute To The Team
* Delivery on time within cost and to stated quality standards
* Embed sustainability principles
* Effective health, safety and wellbeing management on the project
* Deliver within internal and client governance tolerances
* Coordinate and manage contract requirements (NEC) relating to design solutions, construction and commissioning
* Collaborate with the Technical lead to ensure excellence in Health and Safety in design
* Capture cost efficiencies during pre-construction without compromising scope
* Take the project to the Investment Committee and manage capital allocation through the lifecycle
* Manage expenditure and overall project cost through governance
* Ensure effective communication with the supply chain and procurement
* Follow change control processes for time, cost, and quality changes
* Active stakeholder management to clarify requirements and maintain involvement in key decisions
* Identify, allocate, and manage project risks and opportunities with mitigation measures
* Meet commercial objectives with timely reporting and information delivery
* Maintain excellent communications with the client and programme team
* Manage the project programme with multidisciplinary delivery teams
Responsibilities
* Lead project delivery across appraisal, planning, detailed design, construction and delivery phases
* Ensure governance, safety, and quality across the project lifecycle
* Engage with clients and stakeholders to align on objectives and priorities
* Provide leadership in delivery strategy and Health and Safety in design
* Coordinate with procurement and contract management for NEC-based design and construction
Required For The Position Of Project Manager
* A degree in engineering or project/construction management
* A relevant professional qualification, preferably APM
* Full Membership or working towards membership of a relevant chartered body (e.g., MAPM, MCIWEM, MICE, MCIOB, MRICS)
* Project management experience across multiple disciplines; contract/procurement experience
* Experience applying contracts terms in practice
* Excellent written and oral communication
* Ability to foster collaborative working relationships
* Willingness to travel to client sites 2–3 times per week, with potential overnight stays
Preferred But Not Essential
* Experience in the water sector, environment and regulated industries
* Experience working on the client side for utilities companies
* Experience using NEC contracts
