Position Summary / Department Summary:

The Audiologist will provide comprehensive pediatric audiology services, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of hearing and auditory disorders. The role involves working directly with patients and families, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and supporting the clinical operations of the department while fostering professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Obtain case history data by interviewing patients, families, and caregivers, and reviewing medical records to determine indicators for hearing loss and relevant developmental, social, and educational factors.
* Perform audiological evaluations, including behavioral and physiological tests such as auditory brainstem evoked response, otoacoustic emissions, speech detection, speech recognition, auditory perception, and middle ear measures.
* Assist other audiologists in evaluations for young or developmentally-impaired children, interacting directly with patients and parents to obtain observations and test results.
* Counsel patients and families regarding test results and recommendations, including guidance on funding sources for devices or services and training in hearing technology and communication methods.
* Apply test results and observations to develop a case management plan, prepare written reports with recommendations, and select appropriate hearing technology, assistive listening devices, and therapeutic or educational strategies.
* Coordinate implementation of case management plans, including communication with physicians, interdisciplinary staffing participation, and support to families in obtaining funding, device fitting, and follow-up services.
* Maintain clinical efficiency through schedule coordination, provision of unscheduled urgent services, support for other staff, equipment calibration, and organization of hearing technology and supplies.
* Engage in professional development through continuing education, staying current with new equipment and technologies, and sharing knowledge to foster team growth.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:
* Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders required; Doctoral Degree preferred.
Experience:
* Minimum of 1 year of clinically supervised experience in Pediatric Audiology.
Licensure / Certifications:
* Current License in Audiology from the Division of Registration, Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
