Interviews to take place on Tuesday 7th October
We are looking for a teacher with subject lead experience to join our team at Oakham Shires School.
About The Role
Experience of closing the gaps for disadvantaged and SEND pupils would be beneficial as you would be supporting autistic teenagers that have struggled throughout their school journey to achieve their academic and life goals.
Class groups are small, allowing you to focus on each pupil’s needs. All of our pupils are treated as individuals, and we adapt our teaching to meet individual needs. A knowledge and understanding of autism and developmental trauma would be beneficial. We use an “in their own time and space” philosophy to support our pupils to navigate their lives. We focus on understanding behaviour for communication and use this to help support their social and emotional development. We have a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.
We need teachers who have a passion for working with pupils, a compassionate, caring manner and a mature, non-judgemental approach to life. You will be a clear communicator and resilient.
At Oakham Shires, we have a maximum of 6 pupils per class with adult support, reducing paperwork. We allocate 7½ hours per week of non-contact time for training, PPA, meetings, etc. Staff enjoy a cooked lunch with pupils each day and time is set aside to focus on staff wellbeing.
Qualifications required: QTS. This role is not suitable for an ECT.
