Job Description
Vacancies have arisen within portfolio and support directorate for human factors specialists. Based within the human factors team this role provides technical support to Dounreay in areas of human factors assessment, advice and training.
This role is hybrid but would require site attendance at least three days per week.
Key responsibilities:
As a Human Factors Specialist, you will:
* Provide human factors support to new plant designs, operations, plant modifications and safety case assessments. Activities in this area include:
* Assessing safety critical tasks
* Reviewing engineering design
* Undertaking human error analysis and human reliability assessments
* Participating in HAZOPs and design reviews
* Plant walkdowns
* Technical report writing
* Undertake activities and reporting to support the human factors component of nuclear site licence condition 15 (periodic safety reviews)
* Perform peer review of assessments undertaken by external human factors resource
* Provide support to the development and maintenance of the suite of Dounreay human factors related standards and guidance
* Act as intelligent customer for human factors on behalf of Dounreay
* Provide human factors advice and training to the Dounreay site
* Support site incident investigations
* Liaise effectively with regulators and stakeholders both internal and external
* Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to post
Experience and aptitudes:
* Degree in psychology or post graduate qualification in human factors or a related discipline
* Previous experience in a human factors role
* Excellent communications skills - both written and spoken
* Excellent attention to detail
* Good interpersonal skills
* Reliable individual with pro-active and positive approach
* Experience of technical report writing
* Experience in stakeholder engagement
* Post specific capability analysis assessment
