We have recently been named a partner on a new AMP8 framework with United Utilities. This partnership extends for at least five years and will deliver over £3 bn of major infrastructure in the North West of England, including upgrades to wastewater treatment works and a large spill‑reduction programme protecting more than 500 km of rivers and bathing waters.
Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. You will work primarily in the UK water market, providing feasibility, design, construction and commissioning services for water and wastewater treatment systems.
Responsibilities
* Develop the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, safe access, lifting arrangements and above‑ground pipework layouts.
* Coordinate with the project team (Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers) to ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget and to quality standards defined by framework specifications.
* Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design, construction and beyond.
* Engage positively with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Working towards IEng/CEng with a relevant Engineering Institution.
* Excellent communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem‑solving.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the operational region.
