We are seeking a Business and Enterprise Manager to join the Business and Enterprise team based in Wakefield Council
The role within the Economic Growth & Skills Service is to support and manage a team of 10 Business Advisors delivering support to Wakefield district-based enterprises to achieve their growth objectives, negotiate challenges presented by the economic climate and maximise opportunities. The role includes managing the requirements and compliance of externally funded programmes and ensuring target outputs are met in a timely manner. Working within this team this role will respond to the changing needs of businesses meaning postholders needs to be agile and experienced in working directly with businesses across a number of themes including, but not limited to, recruitment, access to funding, strategy, upskilling their team and business growth planning.
Postholders will establish and maintain effective working relationships with businesses across a range of sectors and sizes. Helping to ensure that enterprise support at the district level is inclusive and accessible to all demographic groups is also an important requirement of the role.
You will have:
1. Excellent communication skills.
2. Experience of carrying out financial/business appraisals.
3. Experience in building relationships with small businesses, providing advice/guidance and brokering appropriate business support.
4. Experience of working in partnership with a range of private/public sector agencies.
5. Be qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline or have significant relevant experience.
