Brief Description
You'll help keep our nation moving every single day. This is a critical part of the work we do, which involves the daily upkeep of the rail network.
From establishing safety arrangements to checking the quality of work, you'll direct and inspire the success of a team involved in inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal.
About the role (External)
In this hands-on role, you'll ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards, with safety as a priority. You'll establish safety arrangements, ensure staff and contractors follow safe systems of work, and control and check work quality and competence. You'll compile vital reports.
Track Maintenance
You will maintain, inspect, and repair the track network (Permanent Way or P-Way), working with rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage, and structures to ensure safety and efficiency.
You matter to your team
You will lead, organize, and motivate a high-performing team, with experience in safe work delivery, communication, maintenance techniques, standards, and leadership. You should hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 or equivalent experience, and be willing to drive company vehicles.
Additional Information
Roles involve shifts including days, nights, and weekends, outdoor work in all weather conditions, and are safety-critical with drug and alcohol testing, medical assessments, and BPSS checks. A category B driving license and proximity to Bristol are required.
We value your development
We support continuous learning, offering training to develop technical and leadership skills, with clear career progression from operative to technician and team leader roles.
Benefits include staff travel discounts, healthcare, cycle schemes, flexible working, paid volunteering and reserve leave, and recognition schemes.
