Position Overview
Routine maintenance engineer at Finning (UK) Ltd / Rollo (part of the Finning Group). As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work with the controller to maximise the operational availability of customer equipment through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify potential issues that may impact availability and be tasked with carrying out minor repairs as requested. You will be an ambassador for safety, servicing products in a manner that promotes safety for yourself and the customer.
Responsibilities
* Perform preventative maintenance servicing in line with manufacturers guidelines, including routine servicing and oil sampling.
* Carry out machine inspections (visual and mechanical) to identify developing issues in systems and components (hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, mechanical).
* Complete minor repairs identified during inspections and install telematics systems; conduct undercarriage inspections where required.
* Attend customer locations as advised by the controller and liaise with the service controller and customer as work progresses.
* Ensure all work is completed to high standards and that equipment is safe before return to the customer; complete paperwork accurately and on time, including customer signatures.
* Take proper care of company vehicle and equipment.
Education and Experience
* Direct experience (around 3 years) in a related engineering function, e.g., heavy plant servicing/repair, automotive (car mechanic, HGV fitter, agricultural engineer) or military vehicle experience; or a formal apprenticeship with at least C&G Level 1, with health & safety training desirable.
* Training for the role will be provided; there are opportunities to progress into a field service position with further development.
Skills and Knowledge
* Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics as they relate to servicing and repair of heavy mobile plant (or similar e.g., HGV).
Working Hours and Conditions
This is a field-based role. Working hours are 43 hours per week with a flexible start/finish; Monday to Friday, with one Saturday in three at overtime rate. A full driving licence held for at least 2 years is required (DVLA checks may apply).
