Manufacturing Engineer Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a global manufacturing organisation, offering flexibility to support ongoing production issues and lead continuous improvement manufacturing projects.
Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Cannock)
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + benefits
Our client is a specialist manufacturer supplying complex metallic products and assemblies for the automotive industry. This year, they are launching several key products, investing further in their production facility, and planning for growth.
Job Responsibilities:
* Oversee continuous improvement & lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and performance.
* Specify production facilities and capital equipment; recommend vendors and equipment selection.
* Implement manufacturing process improvements to optimize performance and capability.
* Lead machine PFMEA processes for capital investment projects.
* Review and improve SOPs, process instructions, flow, and standard operations.
* Support New Product Development (NPI) and DFM/DFA initiatives.
* Optimize process flow and reduce waste using MTM, line balancing, VSM, and lean methods.
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Industrial Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineering Manager in high-volume mechanical manufacturing.
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field.
* Experience leading capital equipment projects, including specification, cost justification, vendor management, and NPI launch.
* Lead PFMEA processes.
* Project management skills and vendor liaison experience.
* Knowledge of production processes such as plastic moulding, stamping, cold rolling, casting, forging, CNC machining, or automated/robotic assembly.
* Strong communication skills and a hands-on problem-solving approach.
* Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
