Role
The Principal Integration Engineer will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of Gatwick's Engineering Asset Replacement Plan. In conjunction with discipline specific SMEs, they will provide professional competence, technical expertise and leadership on a variety of discipline Engineering matters. The role also requires skills in Project Management to support the integration of assets into business as usual.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical guidance and expertise to all GAL departments in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of engineering systems and infrastructure.
* Ensure delivery of the technical briefing process, translating client needs into appropriate technical design requirements.
* Balance the different business needs to achieve a successful design outcome, including commercial, operational, and technical aspects.
* Sign-off all designs via the design review and Design Council process.
* Operate as the Responsible Engineer for activities regarding Engineering systems and Permits to Work.
* Balance the need to design fit for purpose infrastructure assets whilst maximising whole life cycle benefits.
* Deliver small projects from initiation through to benefits realisation.
* Ensure close coordination with delivery teams to ensure successful design outcomes and asset information handover to operational teams.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience in the planning, delivery and implementation of major capital projects with sustainability as a key driver.
* Ability to understand and work with technical professionals, design consultants, regulating bodies and on-site contractors.
* Experience providing information required to implement large-scale operational maintenance regimes and delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
* In-depth knowledge of current statutory regulations, British Standards, emerging technologies/processes, and industry best practice.
* Experience managing stakeholder aspirations and balancing technical requirements with financial constraints.
* Experience operating as the 'Responsible Engineer' for policy and standard approvals, concessions and process controls.
* Proven ability to operate in a multi-disciplined environment balancing technical, commercial, and operational needs.
* Adept at communicating at all levels and across different teams and stakeholders.
* Proficient understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental considerations in construction and operational environments, including CDM.
* Experience in asset management/asset integration, project management and whole life cycle costing.
