Kootenay Lake Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Nursing Unit Clerk to join their team in Nelson, B.C.
Hours of work: rotating days - 08:00 to 20:00, 08:00 to 16:45

What Will You Work On?
In this role, you will perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient/resident care area, such as:
* Prioritizing, processing, coordinating, and transcribing physicians’ orders;
* Acting as a communication link for the Unit;
* Scheduling, booking, and coordinating patient/resident appointments;
* Assembling and maintaining patient/resident charts, inputting patient/resident data, and transcribing information into relevant systems such as MARS, Kardex, Careplan, charts, or electronic health record systems;
* Clerical duties - keyboarding, data entry, filing, compiling, preparing and maintaining statistics, producing reports, delivering and picking up items, maintaining unit supply levels, and recording meeting minutes;
* Maintaining timekeeping records for staff and submitting/entering them into payroll systems;
* Observing patient/resident call signals and relaying messages to appropriate personnel.
What should your application include?
o A 5-minute typing test (40+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted). For testing details, please refer to the provided information.
o A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate.
o Your Resume outlining two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
o A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and your preferences for on-call, casual work (i.e., days of the week).
