Welcome From The Principal
We are a free school in the centre of Middlesbrough, and we do things differently! I am proud to introduce Outwood Academy Riverside, an innovative free school within a nationally renowned Trust that nurtures talent and provides high-quality professional development. Opened in 2020, Riverside is a place where genuine care for every family member is central. Our community is built on core values of kindness, compassion, respect, and integrity. We maintain academic rigour and high expectations, resulting in very good behaviour and attendance above the national average. Students gain exceptional personal development opportunities including Cadets, MiSST, and LAMDA.
About The Department
This department believes in the transformative power of computing and is eager to inspire the next generation of digital innovators. We encourage students to explore modern digital technology and aim to break down barriers, especially for girls and minorities. We support each other in achieving these aims.
We have three well-maintained computer suites and teach OCR Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Computer Science, Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Digital Information Technology, and OCR Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Business.
