Responsibilities:
* Theatre Nurses:
o Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
o Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
o Prepare and maintain the operating room, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
o Monitor patients’ vital signs and assist in their recovery following surgery.
o Adhere to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
* Scrub Practitioners:
o Prepare and set up the operating room, ensuring sterility and availability of necessary instruments and supplies.
o Scrub in and assist surgeons during surgical interventions, maintaining a sterile environment.
o Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide appropriate instruments and supplies during procedures.
o Possess thorough knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and instrumentation.
* Anaesthetic Practitioners:
o Assist in the administration of anaesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
o Monitor patients’ vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels during anaesthesia.
o Ensure patient safety throughout the procedure by managing airways and monitoring patient responses.
o Collaborate with the surgical team to optimise patient outcomes.
* Recovery Practitioners:
o Monitor and care for patients in the recovery area following surgery.
o Assess patients’ post-operative condition, including vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress.
o Administer medications and provide appropriate interventions to manage pain and facilitate recovery.
o Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patients’ safe transition to the appropriate post-operative care setting.
Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications and registration with the appropriate professional bodies.
* Proven experience in a similar role within a theatre setting.
* Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and sterile techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and infection control.
* Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
