Job Description
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic part-time Research Assistant to work on a Brit-PACT project examining the impact of obesity on outcomes for children and young people with psoriatic arthritis.
The position is open from June 1st, 2025, to May 31st, 2026. You will be based on Oxford Road, Manchester, working alongside a multidisciplinary team within the Centre for Epidemiology Versus Arthritis (https://www.cfe.manchester.ac.uk). Flexible and hybrid work arrangements are available.
Your responsibilities will include supporting researchers by reviewing literature, leading focus groups with children, young people with juvenile arthritis, their families, and healthcare professionals. You will explore how conversations about weight are conducted in paediatric rheumatology settings and conduct qualitative analyses to identify themes that can improve communication.
This role is suitable for students currently undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in psychology, medicine, sociology, or related health fields.
Qualifications include:
* A-levels grade A (or equivalent) in psychology, sociology, or biological sciences
* Experience working with children and young people
* Experience in literature reviews
Desirable skills include experience in qualitative research and familiarity with NVivo software. An enhanced DBS certificate is required.
