An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research and Enterprise Office (REO) at the University of Essex, in a new post as the Marketing and Communications Officer within the Essex Startups Team. Based in the Research and Enterprise Office (REO), the post holder will work with academic colleagues and professional services staff to support them in raising awareness of the offer for students (across each of our campuses) and graduates that the Essex Startups Team provide.
Duties of the Role
The post holder, in conjunction with Head of Start-Up Support and the Student Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Manager, will develop strategies to enable growth in student and graduate engagement, increase communications to promote positive startup stories from the Essex community, support written applications to award panels, and line management of our placement year post.
You will also liaise with colleagues in our Communications, Advancement and Stakeholder Engagement (CASE) team to ensure a combined, collaborative approach to raising awareness, promoting opportunities, and increasing engagement, with a range of events and activities linked to the programmes and initiatives offered by the Essex Startups Team. This includes marketing and communications linked to our investment work.
You will be responsible for tracking and managing approaches to engagement that will measure the overall success of the various programmes being undertaken and reporting on these.
Qualifications and Skills required
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience of marketing and communications of research or from a business-to-business/university-to-student demographic.
You will have a solid understanding of branding and marketing within set guidelines and deliver these through various marketing channels. You will be responsible for creating high quality marketing assets, promotional activity, and outstanding events management.
