Designer (2D) | Part time | 21 hours
Salary: £36,932 - £40,123 | FTE 35 hours – salary will be pro rata to 0.6 FTE
Hours: 21 hours (3 days) per week | Monday - Friday
Location: National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh / Multi-Site

We are seeking a creative and detail-driven graphic designer, capable of providing innovative and practical solutions to a variety of 2D design challenges, to join our Exhibitions and Design team.

About the Designer (2D) role:
We are looking for a talented Designer (2D) to develop creative, audience-focused graphic design solutions for exhibitions, displays, signage, and wayfinding.
Responsibilities:
* Lead 2D design for exhibitions and displays, managing all stages from concept to delivery, including tender documentation and onsite installation.
* Design signage and wayfinding across all sites, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
* Create innovative graphic design solutions that communicate key messages and engage audiences.
* Manage projects, finances, and contracts following our methodologies.
* Advise colleagues on design best practices and ensure brand consistency across all media, including digital.
Skills and experience:
* Professional experience as a 2D designer in museums or heritage/visitor attractions.
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Knowledge of accessibility guidelines for 2D exhibition design.
* Organizational skills to prioritize workload with minimal supervision.
