Position: Porter at Ayrshire Central Hospital (permanent).
What You Will Do
The general role of the porter/driver is varied and includes: driving, meal delivery, item delivery, security (monitoring CCTV, patrolling premises, locking and securing areas, issuing keys, assisting with gritting), waste management, and at times transfer of patients in and around hospital areas. Transportation of linen, specimens, stores, equipment and supplies is also included. Porters coordinate internal and external mail and assist as a presence in incidents related to violence and aggression. Full training will be provided.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
* Applicants should be physically fit and have a flexible attitude towards working hours and shift patterns.
* Strong customer care and communication skills.
* Must have the ability to use own initiative to anticipate and make appropriate decisions.
* Expected to work with minimal supervision.
* A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
* Previous experience is desirable, but full training will be provided.
Hours
A minimum of 19.73 hours per week are provided on a week-to-week basis and there is no guarantee of additional hours; depending on leave requirements, hours can be up to 37 hours. Hours are allocated over 7 days with varying shift patterns.
